Vegetarian Vision 24th Annual ThanksGiving 2016
Vegetarian Vision, a 501 (c) (3), no profit, celebrated its 24th Annual Thanksgiving dinner at Huntington Hilton this past weekend. In lieu of preparations of their Grand Silver Jubilee, 25 th anniversary celebrations in 2017, the organization has been gearing up for a Grand 2-day International Vegetarian Convention for 2 days on September 9th & 10th in Penn Pavilion, Manhattan, NY. The Turkey free thanksgiving dinner started with the Chairman and Founder address by H.K. Shah & Malti Shah thanking the community for the on-going 24 years of support and inviting everyone to be a life member and part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations. The program included wonderful presentation outline of the upcoming event by President Chandra Mehta & Vice President Flora Parekh, inviting the community to be a part of the celebration planning and execution. Motivational speaker Dr. Robert Ostfield, MD, Cardiologist at Montefiore Medical Center, educated the community on the various cardiac situations, prevention and care. Bob DiBeneditto attended as an invited guest supporting the organization for 2 decades. Efficiently coordinated by the entire executive team – Registration team – Ashok Acharya & Paresh Parekh, M.C. Dr. Krishna Jhaveri; Other executive committee members Director Vinod Shah, VP Suman Munjal; Committee Members Kanak Golia, Kirti Shukla, Meghna Mehta, Kashmira Vyas, Bina Sabapathy, Anu Jain, Gunjan Rastogi & volunteers and supporters, the event brought together several community leaders in attendance. A professional, traditional cultural program with sumptuous vegetarian dinner added a special flavor to the celebrations. Beautifully carved pumpkin decoration by President Chandra Mehta, Malti Shah and team attracted the attendees, media and photographers!
The main objective of the organization is to promote vegetarianism among the people of the world. The organization aims to serve as a resource network and a think-tank for vegetarians worldwide, with the ultimate objective of a healthy future for all of mankind, and for planet earth. The organization over a course of time (24 years) has supported various programs and projects in alignment to their goals and objectives of promoting a healthy vegetarian way of life, save the planet, save the animals. Promoting vegetarianism, Partnering with restaurants for meatless days, encouraging schools and educational institutions to include healthy meal options, contacting hospitals for healthy, cholesterol free vegan meal options, Encouraging airlines for inclusion of healthy meal options and flying conditions, engaging in Healthy Lifestyle Choices – Working at work/ life balance, diet, exercise, stress management, yoga etc. have been some of the primary activities carried by the organization.
